Nancy R. Schlichting practiced in Florida for 15 years before
moving back to Virginia. She has concentrated her practice in commercial
litigation and litigation
relating to health care in the areas of risk management,
guardianships, licensure, credentialing and peer review, managed care, and
reimbursement. In her commercial practice, Ms. Schlichting defends
insurance companies in Director and Officer liability cases and handles
various contractual disputes, with a focus on representing individuals and
corporations in real estate related litigation and banks in foreclosure,
collection cases, lender liability and bankruptcy proceedings.
Experience
- Represented hospitals in numerous peer review proceedings to
terminate physician privileges.
- Defended physicians in peer review proceedings, and has served as a
Hearing Officer presiding over such proceedings.
- Handled numerous foreclosures, at least half of which involved
lender liability issues, bankruptcy and/or difficult collateral.
- Successfully handled cases involving difficult title and access
issues,
- Successfully defended director and officer liability lawsuits
brought against homeowner and condominium associations.
- Handled difficult guardianship proceedings involving incapacitated
adults.
- Served on a pro bono basis as a court-appointed guardian ad litem
for abused children.
- Successfully defended will contests.
